Magnaura Suite Room

 

 

Following the main entrance , a small court will lead you to the Magnaura suit located in front of the main entrance. This beautiful suit is 39 sq.meters(419 sq.feet) including the 6 sq. meter bathroom  with three wood framed windows facing the winter garden and the main court. It is a spacious room with high ceiling ( 255cm.-100 inch)

The marble bathroom with its 195 cm.( 77 inch) size tub with Jacuzzi also contains a hair-drier a digital scale , and deluxe bath amenities. The 70 year old walnut chest (Çeyiz sandığı) functions as the cover of the safe and the luggage stand.

There are hand made Turkish carpets on the merbau parquet floor. Traditional Edirne (the second capital of the Ottoman empire) style mirror with wooden frame and painted shutters; the hundred-year -old wardrobe with its full-length mirror, an antique brass chandelier, several small stands, and beiger style velvet armchairs all help to create the unique air of the suit.

82 cm.(32 inch) LCD TV with satellite system brings a hundred channels to your room. The bed is 180 cm. by 200cm. (King-size , viscotype, hypo-allergic, anti-bacterial) decorated by dome-like iron-brass bars supported by 4 pillars on each corner.

The nature-friendly remote controlled a/c has a dual system. Adjustable central heating is also active in the winter. The electronic safe can be locked either by your credit card or your key code. The minibar is filled with soft drinks and spirits. There is tea and coffee available for your use free of charge.There is a smoke detector although this is a non-smoking room.

Sultanahmet Suite Room

 

 

Through the main entrance, stairs lead you to the first floor. You enter the suite through the 65 sq.feet platform balcony facing the garden. The suite is 35.5 sqm.(382 sq.feet) with 2.55 mt.(100inches) provide a spacious atmosphere The terrace balcony is the ideal place to relax after a tiring day at the city. There are two wooden framed windows facing the winter garden and the main court and street.

The Sultanahmet suite is tastefully decorated with handmade Turkish carpets on the merbau wood parquet, the traditional Edirne (the second capital of the Ottoman empire) style mirror with wooden frame and shutters, a 100 year old wooden wardrobe, a full-length mirror, an antique brass chandelier, several stands and beiger style armchairs create an authentic Ottoman style.

The bathroom is almost 7.7 sq.meters (83 sq.feet), containing a large (1.95 mt.) tub with Jacuzzi. It is tastefully decorated with marble travertine. It contains deluxe bath amenities such as bathrobes ,cotton towels, a digital scale, slippers, and a hair drier.

Hagia Sophia Suite Room

 

 

After entering the courtyard, the Hagia Sophia suite is reached through a wooden door on your left. This beautiful room is located at the ground level of the building and faces the historic Sphendone walls. A wood framed window faces the calm street. The Hagia Sophia suite is 33.5 sq.m.(360 sq.feet) including the 6 sq.meter bathroom. The marble decorated bathroom contains a 195 cm. (77 inch) large tub with jacuzzi, a hair dryer, a digital scale, and the luxurious bath amenities all add up to a unique air.

Approximately 60-70 year old walnut wooden trousseau chest (Çeyiz Sandığı) functions as the cover of the safe as well as your luggage stand. There are hand made Turkısh carpets on the merbau wood floor. The traditional Edirne (the second capital of the Ottoman Empire) style mirror with its wooden frame and hand-painted shutters are beside this hundred-year old wooden wardrobe with full-length mirror, an antique brass chandelier, several small stands, and beiger-style velvet armchairs add to the mystical atmosphere of the suite.

Topkapi Suite Room

 

 

Entering the iron framed wooden door, a nice court welcomes you. Pleasant travertine stairs take you to the platform on the first floor where a wooden door hides the treasure of the Topkapı suite. The suite is 41 sqm. (441 sq. feet) with a 255 cm. (100 inch) ceiling where and old chandelier illuminates the room. There are 3 wooden framed windows facing the court and the calm street. The Sphendone ruins which gave the name to this villa are on the right of one of the windows.

The bathroom is approximately 8 sqms. (85 sq.feet) decorated by ceramic and marble floor with a semi round 190 cm. jacuzzi, bathrobes and cotton towels, deluxe bath set , hair drier, scales, and classic brass taps add to the luxury.

There is a large hand-made Milas carpet on the hardwood floor of this suite. A walnut chest (Çeyiz sandığı) functions as luggage rack and safe cover.There is a 110 year old make up table with a Vienna style cupboard a full-length mirror, a classic beiger armchair also an armchair functioning as an additional bed. A museum-like atmosphere is created with the classical and elegant furniture.

Cagaloglu Turkish Bath

It’s located in Cagaloglu neighborhood near the Underground Cistern. The hammam was built by an unknown architect in 1741 by the order of Sultan Mahmut I to provide revenue for the library of Sultan Mahmut and the Aya Sofya (Hagia Sophia) Mosque at that time.

The hammam has separate sections for both men and women. It combines different Ottoman architectural styles and was the last of the great hammams to be built in the city before their construction was forbidden by Sultan Mustafa III in 1768, because of the increasing needs for water and wood in Istanbul.

Istanbul Archaeological Museum

This complex was build by the end of 19th century by the architect Vallaury thanks to great efforts of famous Turkish painter Osman Hamdi Bey. It includes the exquisite Tiled Kiosk and the Museum of the Ancient Orient and houses a large collection of artifacts and works of art belonging to ancient Greek, Roman and other Anatolian civilizations dating back to the 6th century BC. The Sarcophagus of Alexander the Great, Sarcophagus of Mourning Ladies, and other ancient sarcophagi and various objects found in the Sidon excavation are among its most interesting pieces.

Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum

Istanbul’s Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum (Türk-Islam Eserleri Müzesi), on the Hippodrome across from the Blue Mosqueu, is a treasure-house of beautiful objects from the Ottomann (14th to 20th centuries), Seljuk (11th to 13th centuries), and earlier periods beginning in the 8th century.

The best art was religious art during the Ottoman Empire, just as it was in medieval Europe.

Turkish carpets, illuminated Kur’ans, calligraphy (at which the Ottomans excelled), carved and inlaid wood, glass, porcelain and stone are well displayed. Turkish ethnographic exhibits—a fully-furnished nomads’ tent, a 19th-centuryOttoman parlor, and others—extend the collection beyond mere beautiful objects shown out of context. Continue reading

Sokullu Pasha Mosque

Sokollu (or Sokullu) Mehmed Pasha was born in Sokol of Bosnia in 1505. Thanks to his honest and trusty public service he was quickly promoted to higher ranks in the Ottoman Empire. After the death of Barbaros Hayrettin in 1546 he became the Admiral of the Navy and later General of the Army. He commanded the troops during the war with Austria outside Szigetvar in Hungary in 1566, during which Suleyman died because of his old age and illnesses.

Small St.Sofia Mosque – Ss. Sergius and Bacchus Church

Small St. Sofia Mosque is located between Cankurtaran and Kadırga quarters in Eminönü District, 20 km away from the southern seaside of Mediterranean ramparts. Although it is stated in some sources that there was a pavilion of Big Palace, which is known as Hormidas Palace, and a basically planned church established for Apostle Petrous and Pavlos near Small St. Sofia Mosque, there is no proof which determines their exact locations.
